Official facts, research, and community experience do different jobs here. Rules and deadlines can change; consequential details should be re-checked through the live primary links.

Separate the decisions

Students sometimes collapse several decisions into “I got in.” Keep these separate:

  • academic offer of admission;
  • response through the required application system;
  • tuition or registration deposit;
  • residence application, guarantee conditions, and deposit;
  • scholarship or award conditions;
  • accessibility registration;
  • course registration;
  • study-permit or immigration steps where applicable.

Completing one does not automatically complete the others.

Extract the offer conditions

Copy the exact language into a tracker:

Do not round a condition or substitute a friend’s number.

Protect the final semester

  • Keep every required course in the timetable unless admissions confirms a change.
  • Track the overall conditional average and any course-specific minimum separately.
  • Tell guidance promptly about a dropped, failed, repeated, or alternate-delivery course.
  • Ask how and when final grades are transmitted.
  • Contact admissions before assuming summer completion will satisfy the offer.

Accepting one offer

Follow OUAC’s live instructions and the offer’s response deadline. An applicant can receive multiple offers, but should understand the system’s rules when accepting or changing a response. Keep confirmation records.

Do not accept because a portal countdown creates panic. Compare program, campus, progression, co-op, costs, housing/commute, supports, and the offer conditions.

Deposits are not one universal payment

A university may have different deposits and deadlines for residence, tuition, registration, or international-student processes. Ask whether each payment is refundable and under what conditions.

If a condition may be missed

Contact the university before the final decision when possible. State:

  • applicant number;
  • exact program and campus;
  • condition at risk;
  • current verified result;
  • cause, if relevant and appropriate;
  • recovery plan or documentation;
  • the specific question being asked.

The university decides whether any flexibility, alternate offer, deferral, or other route exists.

Does accepting an offer mean conditions no longer matter?

No. A conditional offer remains dependent on the written conditions until the institution confirms they are met.

Is the residence deadline always the same as the offer deadline?

No. Residence applications, guarantees, deposits, and academic offer responses can have different dates. Check both portals and official instructions.
